Kathleen R. Wilson (nee: Monette), age 57, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in Warren. Kathleen was born April 20, 1953 in San Diego, California, the daughter of the late William and the late Katherine (nee: Dropchuk) Monette. A graduate of Hazel Park High School, Kathleen entered the work world shortly thereafter and chose the industry of Food Service in which to exercise her talents and strengths. That is where she spent the majority of her working years, the lions share of which was as an employee with the Palace of Auburn Hills. While at the Palace, Kathleen was a dedicated staff member of their Executive Dining Room where her exemplary work ethics was ultimately rewarded through a promotion to management. Following a few challenges and battles in life, which found her leaving the realm of food service, she decided to take herself back to school and enrolled at Baker College. Upon her completion there, Kathleen entered an entirely different career path as a Laboratory Technician with Quest Diagnostics in Rochester Hills. For the past 3 years, she has given valiantly of herself towards her newest venture, even amidst the battles with health she continued to face. When she wasnt working, Kathleen found great enjoyment in cooking, curling up with a good book, challenging Lady Luck at the casinos, and vacationing with family & friends, especially when the venue was the outdoors. Her favorite getaways were always the back-to-nature variety that included canoes, camping, and most importantly, good fishin! Yes, without question, one of Kathleens greatest passions in life was her unique and unmatched love of fishing. There was just something genuine & peaceful in the waiting moments of the sport, then something rewarding and magnanimous each time she saw that bobber take a dive. Fishing was in her blood, and she just couldnt get enough of it. Another pastime she enjoyed was the camaraderie and friendship she shared with her fellow members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. A proud and loyal member of both the Hazel Park and Lake Orion aeries, she was honored to have been selected to hold a leadership position within the organization. Kathleen encountered numerous physical trials in her life, yet she was an example to all of the right stuff when it comes to surviving. Possessing the heart of a champion, the strength of a warrior, and the attitude of a winner, she could overcome anything and lived a life that impacted many through her willingness to fight the good fight. She tried to take everything with a grain of salt, and did much to teach us all that lifes too short not to make the most of it. And for Kathleen, this would often entail making the most of each and every cherished opportunity she was given with her children and grandchildren. The moments they shared were special and provided her the joy and pleasure that kept her strong to press on. She was also a lover of animals, nonesomuch, though, as the devotion she held for her two furry friends, Lucy & Rusty. Kathleen leaves behind a legacy of love that will be treasured always by all those whose lives she touched along the way. She is survived by her husband, Dale Wilson; step children, Lynette (Rich) June, Robert Chaney Jr., and Tonja (Jason) Deegan; step grandchildren Devin & Jacob June, and Kendall & Carter Deegan; step mother, Judy Monette; siblings, Dennis (Sandy) Monette, Karen Pipitone, Donald (Patty) Monette, Larry (Norma) Monette, Colleen (Pete) Yodhes, Cindy (Pat) Yodhes, Teresa Johnson, Buddy Frye, Billy (Tina) Monette, Mike (Mary) Frye, and Amy (Jason Earl) Cylkowski; nieces & nephews, Jason, Danielle, Casey, Sarah, Nick, Anthony, Matt, Andrew, Amanda, Aaron, Shelbie, Tayler, Jacob, Ashley, Christopher, Nathan, and Hunter; great nieces & nephews, Haley, Lukas, Cameron, Natalie, Joseph, Anna, and Cara.
