Kurt was an all-around sports fan, watching whichever sport was on T.V. at the time. He especially looked forward to Formula 1 racing and Detroit Lions football. Cars were a major interest for Kurt: he had a vintage 1965 Volkswagen Beetle and a vintage Honda motorcycle. He loved to tinker with them and go for a drive whenever he had the opportunity. He gained experience working in sporting goods until eventually opening his own store, Tristar Sports, in 1996 and continuing it to the present day, along with his job at Label Stop Printing. Kurt was a talented athlete and played high school football and soccer with the Carpathia Club before turning his attention to coaching. Youth sports were one of Kurt’s biggest passions and he spent many years mentoring young soccer and basketball players across Metro Detroit. Whenever he could, he treasured getting away from his busy life and taking small vacations with his wife, Pam. Kurt made friends everywhere he went, and they will always remember his generous heart and incredible sense of humor.
Kurt is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Pamela. His devoted daughter Samantha Anne (Bryan Niedojadlo) Franz. His loving parents Anton and Rose Franz. His treasured sister Linda (Bill Schmitz) Weber, niece Alysia Weber, his loyal Golden Retriever Sawyer, and many other loving friends and family. He is preceded in death by his brother Anton Franz Jr. and his uncle and close friend Joseph Franz. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
