

Lawrence George Konkel, age 85, died Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Stevensville Hospice Facility in Stevensville, Michigan. He was a longtime resident of Warren. Lawrence was born October 1, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan.With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Lawrence for his service to our country during the Korean War era. Ultimately attaining the rank of Private First Class, he served from October 1951 thru October 1953 as an Infantryman in the United States Army. For the sacrifices made and his willingness to stand in harm's way for freedom's sake, we honor the man and his service with extreme gratitude.He worked as a claims adjuster for the AAA Insurance Company for many years. When Lawrence was not working, you'd often find him enjoying one of his favorite pastimes out on the lake in his treasured sail boat. There was simply something freeing and exhilarating about navigating the waters and throwing caution to the wind. He was also known for being quite the car buff and was the proud owner of many collectible cars throughout the years.Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 50 years, Patricia J. (nee Orait) Konkel; his three children, Rebecca A., Dale (Carol Armstrong), and Alyssa Konkel. He is also the loving & treasured grandfather of David, Aimee, and Connor. Visitation for Lawrence will be held Sunday, July 24th from 3-9 pm, with a 4 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road) in Warren. He will lie In state on Monday from 12:00 pm until time of the Funeral Mass at 12:30 pm at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 E. 12 Mile Rd in Warren. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.Memorial donations may be made to the Merlin and Carolyn Hanson Hospice Center, 4382 Cleveland Avenue, Stevensville, MI 49127.Please share memories at Mr. Konkel's memory book above.
