Lee Edward Brown, age 79 of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Friday, July 13, 2012 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital Hospital in Warren. He was born July 12, 1933 in Detroit, son of the late George Brown and the late Frances (nee: Zaremba) Brown. With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Lee for his service to our country during the Korean War. We honor his memory for the sacrifices made in preserving and protecting the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today. Lee spent his childhood in Detroit, where he attended and graduated from St. Catherine's High School in 1952. After graduation, he left to serve his county in the U.S. Army. Upon his safe arrival home, he found hiself unsure of what he wanted to do as a career. He spent some time working for a machine shop in Detroit, but decided that wasn't for him. Lee then enrolled into the Police Academy in Detroit, where he found himself at-home continuing to protect and serve his fellow Americans. He joined the Detroit Police Department, where he served for 30 year. Half of that time was spent in service to the Narcotic's division, where Lee dedicated his time to keeping the street of Detroit safe and clean. On June 6, 1955, Lee's life was irrevocably and wonderfully changed when he promised himself in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Lou (nee: Randall). They would go on to share a long & loving life together, raising a family of four and nurturing a home filled with precious memories.Lee was a fun-loving guy who found his greatest joys through the people that surrounded him. His affections ran deep, and he was known to give nicknames to everyone to whom he took a shine. In return, his fellow officers called him 'Eagle' due to his sharp eyes and sharp mind. Along with his tireless care for others, Lee will forever be renowned as a jokester with a penchant for gentle teasing. Lee lived to bring joy and laughter to the lives of others - it was his way of sharing the lighter side of a decidedly heavy world. Lee lived life to the fullest, and he was generous to a fault, ready to give away his umbrella in the rain and his coat in a snowstorm. As for his personal enjoyment and favorite pastimes, Lee found great delight in preparing elaborate dishes to share with his family and friends. He had every kitchen gadget on the market, and would watch all the cooking shows he could find to see what new concoctions he could come up with. Many saw his creative side as well. Lee would come up with ideas on how to make life easier - unfortunately, that 'Million Dollar Idea' was already invented by someone else. Ultimately, Lee's love for his family was his greatest. Without doubt, all who knew Lee knew he was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. His life was enriched by many, and many were touched by his insatiable love for life. He leaves behind a powerful legacy of love and laughter, and he will be immensely missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 57 years, Mary Lou, and his four children Donna Brown (and her fianc' Daniel deManigold), Audrey Brown (and her husband Raymond Trumpour), Paula Tobianski (and her boyfriend Patrick O'Connor), and Geoffrey Brown. He shared a special bond with each of his grandchildren, Timothy and Christopher Morrison, Donald and Brandon Tobianski, and Jacob and Lindsay Brown. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Eviana Tobianski, and a brother to Donald Brown, Nancy Dave, and the late Robert Brown. He was also the brother-in-law of Joyce Devine, Thomas Randall, and Brian Nelson. Lee is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and many other family members.Memorial Visitation will be held on August 25th, 2012 at 12-Noon until the time of his Memorial Service at 2:30pm at the D.S.
