Loretta Theresa White, age 89, died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan surrounded by her dear family. Loretta was born August 2, 1926 in Hamtramck, Michigan, daughter of the late Sam Stachowiak and the late Mary (nee: Golinski) Stachowiak.Raised and educated in Hamtramck, Loretta would later go to work for Chrysler Motors on the assembly line until the plant where she worked was closed. Additionally, Loretta worked as a lunch monitor at the local school where she loved all the children and, in return, they adored her.Loretta and her husband settled on the east side of Detroit where they raised their growing family. The family were active members at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church until the church closed in 1990. While as a member of the church, she took an active role in volunteering and belonging to many of the organizations. Back in the day, the neighborhood was filled with large families where everyone watched out for each other. Loretta was considered the "Mom" of the neighborhood and the White home seemed to be where everyone congregated. Loretta loved her home and tending to her flowers, especially her yellow mums. She enjoyed being outside and gardening, all the while watching the beautiful butterflies. Loretta was not a person to sit still... she loved to dance to her favorite Polkas, cruise the neighborhoods for the best garage sales, and also enjoyed bowling. Additionally, Loretta enjoyed her time traveling to Northern Michigan or going on distant vacations.Downtime for Loretta was usually spent at home or enjoying time at family gatherings. She held a deep passion for her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter,...along with loving the color yellow, anything chocolate or with peanuts, and hanging out with her daughter, Pookey. Loretta will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing such a wonderful lady.Loretta was the beloved wife of the late Clyde who predeceased her in 1982, and was the loving mother of Shirley (Jeffrey) Davis, Donna (Matt) Fisher, Sue White, Rosemary (the late Gary) Dunaway, Nancy White and Lori (Mark) Schuman. Beloved sister of Gerald Stachowiak and the late Arthur Stachowiak. She is the treasured grandmother of Rebecca (Dustin) Doyle, Rachel Dunaway, Matthew Schuman, Amanda Schuman, Amber Hall, Christopher Schuman, and special great-grandmother of Jade Doyle.
