

Manuel Batuyong Flores age 90, died Friday June 7, 2019 at Ascension Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Manuel was born October 3, 1928 in the Philippines, the son of the late Leocadio Flores and the late Monica (nee; Batuyong) Flores.
Manuel was raised in the Philippines before joining the United States Navy, eventually being transferred to active duty in California. Manuel would serve for over 30 years for United States Navy achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, where he would serve during the Korean War and also the Vietnam War.
During the end of his military career Manuel was given the opportunity to serve his last duty either in Hawaii or Washington DC... he chose the District of Columbia. Following his military retirement he worked for the Internal Revenue Service for a time before relocating to Michigan where he returned to college studying accounting and eventually going to work for his sister's home health care agency.
After his first marriage, Manuel found love again with Estelita Santos, the two married June 14, 1993 and settled in Warren, Michigan. When Manuel was not working he enjoyed tinkering on his cars, reading, and listening to the Lawrence Welk Orchestra. Additionally he loved to dance, solve puzzles, and play his harmonica. Away from home he and his wife enjoyed traveling to many locations that included visiting, Hawaii, Europe, and the United Kingdom.
Manuel is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Estelita Flores, and was the dear father of Ron (Gigi) Flores, Mark (Claire) Flores, Keith (Sally) Flores, and the late Carl Flores. He was the cherished grandfather of Miguel, Ysabel, Conrad, Gabrielle, Mercedez, Nicole, Liana, Melody, and great-grandfather of Axton, Riku, and Luna. Dear brother of Arturo (the late Estela), the late Augusto (Tita), Honesto (Rory), and Magdelene (the late Eugene) Flores.
A Memorial visitation for Mr. Flores will be held Saturday June 15th 2-6pm with an evening Scripture Service at 5pm, at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile).
