Margaret Bailey, age 94 of Warren, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at home. She was born September 1, 1926 in Castleisland, Ireland, daughter of the late John and the late Annie (nee: Sheahan) O’Sullivan.
A consummate homemaker, Margaret poured the finest parts of her love and care into tending to the needs of her family, and the comforts of home & hearth. Possessing esteemed pride in her Irish heritage, it came as no surprise to anyone that Margaret had picked up the old world skills that she learned in the kitchen,…especially when it came to her outstanding Irish Soda Bread and Irish Stew. If you were hankering for a little taste of the homeland, Margaret was just the person to satisfy your taste buds. And being from the British Isles, a good ol’ cup’o’tea could always hit the spot for this Irish lass,…especially when shared with a welcomed visitor.
If she wasn’t toiling away inside the house, then you would have often found Margaret putting that green thumb of hers to work nurturing her garden and getting rid of those pesky weeds. Possessing the heart of a horticulturalist, she spent countless hours tending to her gardens growth and creating a thing of both beauty and utility. At 94 years old, Margaret was imbued with considerable experience in garden management, and hers was always a “little oasis” right there in the backyard.
Another pastime she enjoyed was found in her talents with crocheting. With a flair for the artistic and hands that worked some incredible magic, Margaret produced many wonderful pieces over the years that were meant to bless and enrich the lives of those she had in mind with each creation.
Being a proud Irish gal, Margaret was known for being quite light on her feet through her love of dancing. Whenever the moment arose, tripping the light fantastic and swaying to the music was something she loved to do. Margaret also loved playing card games, and most always won,…shhh, because she was quite adept at cheating. Yes, it was always a special time when she joined others around the table for a little cards & conversation,…just beware of what was coming out of her sleeve. Ahh, but some of her greatest entertainment came when she sat down in the early evening to take in a bit of news, which always meant turnin’ the Telly to ABC World News Tonight to catch that handsome, David Muir bring her the latest. It didn’t really matter what was going on in the world,…just as long as she had her Handsome Hunk bringing it home.
Yet of all that made her happiest, the times and moments spent in the company of family brought Margaret her greatest joys in life. They were truly the light of her life and the wind beneath her wings. When she was looking to be lifted up in spirit, all she needed to do was reflect on the love and care that each of them embodied,…and the sweetness of life was renewed.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Margaret leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love to be embraced by those who were blessed to know her and be loved by her. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey this side of Heaven,…may she now enjoy the blessings on the other side as she rests safely in the arms of God. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Joseph “Irish Joe” Bailey. Dearest mother of Peggy Ann (Thomas) Barwin, Mary Theresa (Jerry) Depoorter, Ann Marie (James) Moran, and the late Joseph Michael Bailey. She was the loving grandmother of Sean, Joseph, Sullivan, Conner, Jenna, Finnegan and great-grandmother of Hugh, Huck, Bree, John Sullivan, West, and Vera Hope.
