

Margaret Mary Stechschulte, age 61 of Rochester, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at her home. Margaret was born October 19, 1944 in Harlingen, Texas the daughter of Margaret Mary (nee: Logan) Garvale and the late John Anthony Garvale. Margaret was the devoted wife of the late James B. Stechschulte. Dearest mother of Michael James (Kelly Ann), Joseph James, and Marguerite Ann (Dr. John) Westfall. Beloved daughter of Margaret Mary and the late John Anthony Garvale. Loving grandmother of Charlotte Ann, Anna Fisher, & Michael David Stechschulte, and James David, William Christopher , & Mary Catherine Isabel Westfall. Dear sister of James Garvale, and Thomas (Irene) Garvale. Margaret was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a woman of many spiritual and worldly talents. Margaret was baptized and spent some of her youth in Harlingen Texas while her father was in the military. Her family would eventually move to the Detroit area where Margaret would graduate from Benedictine High School and go on to study nursing at Mercy College. After her nursing studies, Margaret met and married James B. Stechschulte. She would become a stay at home mother caring for her three children. Margaret was a gifted artist, who achieved acclaim as a fine porcelain and china painter. She created paintings as gifts for family, friends, and charitable donations. She also was an adept seamstress and decorator. Her family remembers how she and her husband transformed their Marine City home, while Margaret hand painted all the porcelain tiles in the kitchen. Margaret was also a very devout Catholic who was always there to help others. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rochester and also Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marine City. Margaret held Bible study groups, donated her time to Christian Services, battered woman causes, the mentally ill, youth groups, alcohol and drug awareness, the sick, poor, disadvantaged, and also she supported anti-abortion, and the homeless & hungry programs domestically and internationally. Margaret enjoyed spending her summers at her river home in Marine City, and vacationing in Harbor Springs. But Margarets true love was her beloved husband of over 40 years Jim, and her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed family time, cooking, antique shopping, boating with Jim, quilting, and listening to music. Visitation for Margaret will be Friday Noon until 8 pm., at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). A Rosary Service will be held Friday at 7 pm. Funeral services will begin Saturday with Margaret laying in state 11:30 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1400 Inglewood, in Rochester - until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12:30 pm. Celebrating the Funeral Mass will be Rev. Fr. Thomas Slowinski. Interment will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Oakland Township.
