Mary Claire Smith, age 82 of Roseville, died Saturday, December 5, 2020 at The Rivers Grosse Pointe Assisted Living facility in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She was born August 11, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Marvin and the late Margaret (nee: Lynch) Grieshaber.
As a homemaker and mom, Claire poured the best parts of herself into caring for her loved ones and building upon the comforts of home and hearth, while providing the perfect “sanctuary” for her loving family to enjoy. Where some obituaries may include a list of the pastimes for the decedent, there was only one thing that topped Claire’s list of favorites,…and it was all wrapped in her love and care for family. Being one of 8 children; having 4 of her own; being blessed with 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; along with all of the loving nieces and nephews she leaves, Claire’s quiver was certainly rife with love and abounding with joy as each one held their own special place in her heart and life. From the many family gatherings and events, to the cards and phone calls shared throughout the years, Claire’s heart was wonderfully enveloped by the many family memories that enriched her life. Spending time with family meant the world to Claire, and she treasured each visit she was afforded to share their company. Claire leaves behind a wonderful legacy of the love and laughter shared throughout the years with her precious loved ones.
Claire touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey this side of Heaven,…may she now enjoy the blessings on the other side as she rests safely in the arms of God.
Claire was the loving mother of John F. Smith Jr., Paul (Lori) Smith, Martin (Heather) Smith, and Mary Beth Basford. Dearest grandmother of Matthew, Bobbie, Joshua, Paul, Megan, Samantha, Kourtney, Emma. and great-grandmother of 5. Sister of Margaret “Peggy” (Gene) Kelty, Donna Gray, and Lou (Kathy) Grieshaber, and the late Marvin Grieshaber, Michael Grieshaber, Madelyn Harris, and Marc Grieshaber. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
