Melissa J. Eagles, age 71, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She was born November 26, 1953, in Marquette, Michigan to the late Lloyd Valliencourt and Betty Jean Ayotte.
Melissa was like the sun because she was the center of our family. The gravity of her love radiated and pulled you toward her, keeping everything in orbit—steady, dependable, and full of strength. She shared her warmth with everyone she met, and there was always an abundance of it—never withheld, never dimmed. Her laughter could brighten the darkest days, and her love poured into every corner of not only our lives but the lives she touched while working as a nurse for many years.
Melissa was like the sun because her light helped her children and grandchildren grow strong and full of life. She nurtured them with unwavering care, taught them to stand tall, and gave them the confidence to reach for the sky.
She shone especially brightly beside her husband, her partner of an entire lifetime (since they were teenagers). The two married February 7, 1972, on Robert’s birthday, making the day especially memorable for both. The love they shared was a foundation—unshakable, enduring, and full of grace. Together, they built a life rich in love and resilience, a beacon for their children and grandchildren to follow.
Even now, though she may no longer be physically with us, her light continues to shine through all of us. And like the sun at dawn, she reminds us each day that warmth, love, and light never truly fade.
Melissa is lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Robert, as well as her children- Janie Eagles, Keith Eagles, and David (Brooks Willis) Eagles. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Madison Boes and Christopher Eagles. She was the beloved sister of Joseph (Kylynn) Vailliencourt, and Christopher (Penny) Vailliencourt. Dear sister-in-law of Mary (BJ) Mayerhofer, Barbie (Isaac) Garcia, Bonnie Stanford, and Edwin (the late Nancy) Moskwa. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held for Melissa on Saturday, October 25, 2025, 2pm until the time of her Memorial Service at 5pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren.
