

Michael James Romanchik, age 86, died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born July 11, 1932, in Senecaville, Ohio, son of the late Michael Romanchik and the late Anna (nee: Banas) Romanchik.
As a young boy, Michael's family moved to Michigan settling in Detroit where Michael attended and graduated from Detroit's Pershing High School. While in high school Michael was a star athlete and excelled at basketball. Following high school, Michael continued his education at the University of Detroit where he attained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. Michael was revered by his fellow classmates for creating a new assembly line method.
Fresh into the workforce, Mr. Romanchik gained employment within the automotive industry working for several companies over the years before finally settling with the Ford Motor Company. He worked for many years at Ford's, ultimately retiring from their Utica Trim facility.
Outside of work he kept his mechanical mind busy working on several cars he kept at home... primarily Ford Pintos. Also, Mr. Romanchik enjoyed his garden where he grew tomatoes, hot peppers, parsley, as well as tending to his fruit trees and raspberry bushes. Mike would pick the fruit and Teenie would can everything Mike could pick.
Mr. Romanchik was a passionate bowler and golfer, and getting out with his fellow sportsmen was a constant quest of his. He also had his standing poker game with his best buddies, usually taking turns at which home the game would be held. He was a dear friend to so many who will forever cherish his quick wit and great sense of humor. Above all his passions in life was truly his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He and his wife, Teenie would make every effort to attend their family members special occasions, sporting and school events, or other important happenings. Mike's motto was, "90% of friendship is just showing up." He will be forever missed by all those fortunate to have met and known him.
Mr. Romanchik was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen “Teenie” Romanchik, and the dear father of Daniel Romanchik, (Sylvia Ruiz), John (Debbie) Romanchik, Annette (Joe) Witte, Brenda Romanchik (Clemens Wittekind), Maureen Romanchik (Joe Anderson), and Michael (Cathy) Romanchik. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Angela, Kevin, Mary Beth (Sam) Polce, Rachel (Raymond) Love, David, Anna, Emily, Matt, Nicole (Rick) Kevwich, Katarina, Daniel, Kyle, Conner, Mikayla, Michael, Jacob, and great-grandfather of Jonathan, Caden, Rayna, Kiera, Mya, Kendra, and Michael.
Visitation for Mr. Romanchik will be held Wednesday from 4-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. He will lie in state on Thursday from 10:30 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Mark Catholic Church in Warren. His entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
