

Nancy Ann DiMercurio, age 81, a resident of Warren, died Friday, January 30, 2015 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren, Michigan. Nancy was born June 14, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Clarence Gilleran and the late Ann (nee: Fitzpatrick) Gilleran.Nancy was raised in a large Irish-Catholic family on Detroit's Westside. She graduated from Holy Redeemer Catholic High School and later devoted herself to the Catholic faith, serving as an IHM Nun and educator for over twelve years. Nancy's devotion was to her faith in Christ, as well as serving and inspiring youth through education. Nancy was highly scholared and quite proud of attaining her Master's Degree in Education. She would serve in Catholic education for many years, teaching at both St. Anne's Catholic School in Warren and Holy Name School in Detroit, before settling in Birmingham where she taught at Berkshire Middle School until her well-deserved retirement.Outside of education, Nancy loved to read and travel with her husband and stepchildren. During her life, Nancy's travels took her to many places dotting the globe. She also was devoted to her family members including her many nieces and nephews whom she cherished. The only vice in Nancy's life seemed to involve shopping for shoes and handbags...just a few indulgences which she treasured and worked hard to enjoy.Mrs. DiMercurio was the beloved wife of the late Victor DiMercurio, and the loving mother of Victor DiMercurio, and Joseph DiMercurio. Nancy was also the caring sister of Eileen (the late Jim) Rosni, Jane (Tony) Malinowski, and the late Joseph, Marie, Patricia, and Edward Gilleran. Sister in law of Joan Gilleran. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.Mrs. DiMercurio will lie in state on Friday, February 6th from 9am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30am at St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren.
