Nicholas S. Zacklan

Nicholas Steven Zacklan, age 91 of Warren and Florida, died Sunday, August 21, 2005 at his sons home in Warren. Mr. Zacklan was born July 21, 1914 in Joliet, Illinois the son of the late Matthew Zacklan and the late Sophia (nee: Skrinar) Zacklan. He is survived by his children; Nicholas Zacklan, Marylouise Stokes, James Zacklan, Bob Zacklan, and Patricia Van Buren. His mother in-law Mary Todd, his brother Michael Zacklan, his grandsons; Richard, Nicholas, and Adam, his granddaughters; Stacy, Sherry, and Vickie. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson. His wife Evelyn preceded him in death in 2002. Mr. Zacklan attended school in Lockport Township, Illinois and then migrated to Warren Township in 1933. He worked and retired as general plant superintendent from LTV Steel, (formerly Rotary Electric & Steel), in Warren, January 1, 1971. Mr. Zacklan was community involved, and committed to the union worker. He was past president of local 1357 at Rotary Electric & Steel. Past agent of the Michigan Thumb District for the AFLCIO, past vice-president of the Michigan AFLCIO, past president of the Warren South Rotary Club, past vice-president of the Amalgamated Association of Iron & Steel Engineers, past president of the Westwood Civic Association in Holiday Florida. He was a 32nd degree member of Shriners Lodge 550 in Center Line. Mr. Zacklan was also appointed to the Macomb County Draft Board by President Eisenhower, and continued to serve under Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon. Visitation for Mr. Zacklan will be held Tuesday August 23rd from 5-9 pm and Wednesday from 1-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common, (12 mile). Mr. Zacklan will lie in state Thursday 10:00 am at Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8129 Packard in Warren, until time of Funeral Service 10:30 am. Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Pastor Roger Facione. Interment will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township. Please share memories at the guest book.
