Nichole's early years were spent in Warren Michigan where she attended St. Anne Catholic Grade school, and later Beer Middle School. Once her family moved to Macomb Township, Nichole attended and graduated from Dakota High School, the C lass of 2007. While in high school she was a standout athlete and all-around great student.
Following high school Nichole followed her passion for volleyball, playing and attending St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron. She later moved on to Wayne State University where she achieved her Bachelor's Degree in Education and later achieved her Master's Degree in educational technology from Central Michigan University.
Her career path was led by the close relationship Nichole shared with her mother and Nichole's keen attention to the joy her mother found while educating and mentoring young children. Both mother and daughter shared the love of teaching and also their combined passion for numbers and problem-solving that could be relatable to others. What a proud moment for Nichole's mother, Nancy, when her daughter graduated with her teaching degree...the mother-daughter bond began early and never ended.
Nichole was offered a teaching position within Chippewa Valley High School where she taught 9th and 10th-grade math. In addition to her daily teaching job, Nichole also coached volleyball, first at Algonquin Middle School for 3 years and later as the head varsity coach at Chippewa Valley High School. Nichole loved being an athlete and later a coach, teacher, and mentor to youths. She also chaired the student council at Chippewa Valley.
Nichole had a very analytical mind, which she may have inherited from her father, which only enhanced her ability to teach math. She had a passion for communicating and connecting with her students and athletes. She cherished every "break-through" moment with many of her students. In addition to her analytical thought pattern, Nichole was the consummate planner, luggage organizer, and event coordinator. She was the go-to person for planning bridal showers and bachelorette parties.
Away from her work schedule or coaching duties, Nichole had a zest for life and a desire to travel and meet different people from many regions. She visited many different destinations and states where she always enjoyed her dining, drinks, food, and friends. Her three sisters would giggle together as they remembered Nichole's love of food and margaritas, and how she had the ability to always strike up a conversation with a stranger,...who soon became a new friend. Many will also remember Nichole's love of music and singing show tunes, she could remember every lyric in every song which highlighted her artistic side.
As lung cancer took hold of Nichole's health, she never let cancer define her as a human or change her love for living and enjoying her family and friends. As she lost her hair she wore her bald head as a badge of beauty to show others how powerful a woman can be in the battle against cancer. Cancer was not going to define Nichole... her achieved goals, teaching career, and coaching accomplishments were the foundation upon which made her a strong woman. Almost to the very end of Nichole's life, she continued to mentor and support others before herself in the battle to live with and overcome cancer. She will forever be remembered as the athlete, the warrior, the educator, the coach, and the mentor to so many. Thank you Nichole.

"You may never know when life is going to end or what it will bring you....but all I can tell you is that every day is a beautiful gift. There are no repeats, and there is certainly no time for regrets.
And when the day comes that you do that really cool thing or you risk something you never thought possible...I want you to think of me and this day and remember that it will all work out. Thank you and congratulations!"Commencement speech by Nichole Wouters June 10, 2018
