Ocil D."Grat" Dalton, died Wednesday April 15, 2009 at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan at the age of 88. He was born in Jefferson, Missouri on February 20, 1921 to parents, James & Lola Dalton. Twenty years later, in 1941, he walked down the aisle with the love of his life, Eileen. The two would go on to share a wonderful 66 years of marriage together, until Eileen's passing in November of 2007. Just a couple of years into their marriage, Ocil answered the call of patriotism and proudly served our country during World War II as a sailor in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945. He was employed for many years as a Machine Repairman with the Artco Company, and later with the Ford Motor Company. He was also quite proficient when it came to Carpentry. His family recounts how he could build most anything, as evidenced by the 5 houses he helped to construct. Ocil had a couple of passions in life, one of which was his antique car. The other, as all who knew him, was spending time at church. Being the devout man of faith that he was, church was his favorite place to be. Beloved husband of the late Eileen, and dear father of Dr. Jacqueline Dalton, Larry (Pamela) Dalton, and Bradley Dalton. Loving grandfather of Deanna (Edward) Catenac, Grat Dalton, Tiffany (Michael) Haley, Nissa Dalton, Brandi (Jeremy) Hartwell, Char (Royce) Somes, Chad (Jenny) Dalton, and the late Bradley Dalton. Also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Ocil will be on Sunday, April 19 from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. He will lie in state on Monday, April 20 from 10am until time of the Funeral Service at 11am at Warren Woods Church of the Nazarene in Warren. Please share memories of Ocil ("Grat") at his guest book.
