Patrick Jean Shea, age 41 of Sterling Heights, died Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born December 14, 1972 in Detroit, son of Dian Marie (nee: Burton) and the late Patrick Shea. A bit of a "techy" at heart, Patrick's vision for the future entailed additional education, so he got that ball rolling after high school by attending Macomb Community College,…then on from there to Walsh College where he attained his degree in Information Technology, known more colloquially as IT. Armed with this arrow in his quiver, he headed into the employment fray and landed a position with the Lear Corporation. From there, his career stepping stones led him to EDS where he was an integral part of the operations with both the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. Patrick loved his work and was very good at it as well. With the job came many wonderful perks,…with one of his favorite being the opportunities afforded to travel, which is something he did across America and the European continent. He truly loved to travel,…especially when it was compliments of the job. When Patrick wasn't working, he possessed an eclectic array of hobbies, pastimes, and things he loved to entertain himself by. One of them was genealogy, something he spent countless hours on in researching his family lineage. It kept him quite intrigued, and his computer skills were the perfect accompaniment to probe and explore. He was also a "Foodie" at heart, someone who enjoyed scoping out new and interesting restaurants. Other hobbies included gardening and photography, and a good, ol' game of cards,…especially Rummy. He loved the classics in both the film and music genres alike,…and Madonna was one of his iconic faves. The game of Scrabble was one of his favorites, too, with his mother and grandmother being two of his fiercest opponents. When it came to his love of word games, Patrick took no enemies! The family agrees, Patrick was always Grandma's eternal favorite, and he absolutely loved her cooking. He never left hungry from her table. And when it came to his culinary likings, the taste sensations of both Open Pit BBQ Sauce and the ever-popular Log Cabin Syrup sent Patrick over the top. He just couldn't get enough of either. For this quiet and mild-mannered man who was forever dressed in his signature outfit of khaki shorts and a t-shirt, the best & warmest thing he put on every day was that signature smile that everyone came to adore. Though he had a heart of gold, at times it was encased in a bit of a sarcastic jokester,…but always from the fun-loving sweetheart that all had come to know. In its uniqueness and individuality, Patrick's obituary wouldn't mean as much if not shared with that of his sister, Rachel. He wouldn't have it any other way. Their deaths came just 10 days apart,…and if it weren't for the fact that it involves a brother and sister, this would be a love story for the ages. For all their lives, Patrick and Rachel have been supporting each other through their individual battles with Cystic Fibrosis. In early October, Rachel was hospitalized near her home in Las Vegas with a dire prognosis. Her Mom and Patrick made the trek out west to abide with her,…and once again, the Dynamic Duo were together. While there, quite unexpectedly, Patrick took ill…was hospitalized as well…and died just days later. With Rachel following so close behind, God must have thought that her little brother needed to pave the way and report back to his sister that all is cool,…and their battle is over! And so they were reunited again,…no sickness, no pain,...the two jokesters, whole & new. May they, now, rest in peace.A loving son, brother, grandson and nephew, Patrick leaves behind a storehouse of loving and funny memories for all to cherish who were blessed to know him. Gone far too soon from our presence, our new Guardian Angel watches over us,…and yes, it's all cool. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Patrick was the beloved son of Dian (the late Patrick) Shea, and dear brother of the late Rachel Videan, and the late Rebecca Shea. Loving grandson of Veronica Cilluffo. Dear nephew of Sarah (Scott) Anderson and Mary Ann (Donald) Fradette. Also survived by other caring aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation for Patrick will be held on Friday, December 26th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. He will lie in state on Saturday from 10am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcomed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
