He served in the United States military in the army for a number of years. After getting out of the army he focused on his craft of drywalling and even started his own business. He married Deborah and had a son Matthew. Deb died in 1996 at the age of 39 while their son was only 8 years old. Afterwards, Richard made his son the sole purpose of his life, providing, sacrificing, instructing, and raising him to have Christian values, morals, and the proper respect for the Lord Jesus. In what free time Richard had he enjoyed model railroads and trains, watching movies and documentaries on WWII, playing a couple strategy computer games, and last but not least riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in his later years.
A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 from 10:00 am to 1:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, Michigan 48088. Following the visitation will be a committal prayer at 2pm at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, 621 W Long Road, Troy, Michigan 48098.
