

Richard Theophilus Wolas, age 88 of Warren, died Friday, September 5, 2014 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born March 6, 1926 in Hamtramck to Walter and Josephine (nee: Kowelewski) Wolas.Rchard married the love of his life, Eleanor Kopera on July 3, 1954, with whom he went on to share the next 40 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 1954. In the years preceding their betrothal, Richard answered the call to duty and served honorably as a soldier in the U.S. Army during World War II. During his time overseas, he was engaged in a number of momentous missions, one of the most notable being the infamous Battle of the Bulge. With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Richard for his service to our country and for the bravery exuded by standing in harm's way for the cause of freedom and the preservation of the liberties we enjoy today,...because he was there. Richard was employed as a commercial electrician, and was a proud member of the IEBW. When he wasn't working, he loved to dabble in the art of woodworking where he was able to put the talents of his hands to good use. His creativity shone through many of the unique pieces he designed and forged over the years. And many will remember Richard for his strong and abiding faith in God, and the many ways his faithfulness and servanthood made an impact on the lives in his community. He was a longtime member and parishioner at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren,...as well as an integral member in the St. Sylvester's Mens Club. Through the church and his outgoing personality, Richard touched a multitude of lives along his journey through life. He leaves a legacy of lessons, laughter, and love to draw from with each reflection shared. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Richard was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor. Dear father of Donna (David) Schultes, Karen Wolas, and Scott (Jennifer) Wolas. Loving grandfather of Jonathan, Timothy and Erin Schultes, and Chloe Wolas. He is also survived by his dog, Muffy. Visitation for Richard will be held on Wednesday, September 10th from 3-9 pm, with a 7:30 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ½ Mile) in Warren. He will lie in state on Thursday from 10:00am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Faustina Catholic Church (formerly St. Edmund), 14025 E. Twelve Mile Road in Warren.Please share memories of Richard at his memory book.
