
Silverio Coppa, age 85, died Thursday, April 2, 2009 in Sunrise, Florida. He was born June 25, 1923 in Ponza, Italy. Silverio served honorably in the United States Army in Europe during World War II from 1943-1945. He raised his family in Roseville for 18 years, after which they moved to Detroit where he started and operated his own business, S&S Carpets, until his retirement. For many years he traveled via trailer between Grayling, Michigan and Florida, finally settling in Sunrise, Florida. Silverio was baptized on November 8, 1953 into The Church of Jesus Christ. He was ordained, successively a deacon, a teacher and a minister on April 22, 1956. He served, faithfully, as a non-paid minister for 56 years. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Eva Ilene Coppa. Also surviving are children; Gary Coppa and Susan Moraco, their spouses, and 3 grandchildren; Anthony Moraco, Chris Moraco and Kevin Coppa. Dear brother of Alma Coppa and Eva Cain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael & Filomena, brothers Adam & Elio Coppa and sister, Mary Saczko. The Committal Service and burial will be 11:00am Wednesday, April 8 at the White Chapel Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, 621 W. Long Lake Road, Troy, Michigan. Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S.
