

Stanley Joseph Knapik, age 84 of Warren, died Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Fair Acres Nursing Home in Armada. Stanley was born February 04, 1923 in Hamtramck, Michigan the son of the late Anthony Knapik and the late Catherine (nee: Blanch) Knapik. He is survived by his loving wife Leona, and his dear son Larry (Wanda Sue) Knapik of Harrison Township. Stanley is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Emily and Andrew Knapik. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Knapik, and his mother, Catherine Knapik, also his brothers, Joseph Knapik, Walter Knapik, and sisters, Adeline Sciba, and Stella Slusarz. Stanley served in the Army during World War II, and was a member of VFW Post 4162. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Kramer Council in Center Line. Stanley worked for over 26 years, before his retirement for Burroughs Corporation, now known as Unisys. When Stanley was not working he always stayed active working as a handyman around the house, or bowling with friends. Later in life Stanley became active with the St. Bartholomew Seniors, playing Bingo and socializing. Even after Stanley was confined to Fair Acres Nursing Home he still enjoyed playing Bingo, and socializing with the residents and staff. Visitation for Stanley will be Sunday from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile), with an afternoon Rosary Service at 5 pm. Stanley will lay in state Monday 10:00 am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, until the time of the Funeral Mass 10:30 am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Gary Schulte. Interment will be Mount Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. Please share memories of Stanley at his guest book.
