Born in Germany, Stefania came to Detroit at just three years old, where she grew up surrounded by the love, traditions, and pride of her Polish family — roots she carried with her throughout her entire life.
Stefania was hardworking, dedicated, and took immense pride in everything she did. She spent many years at Oakwood Commons Senior Living as a housekeeper, where her commitment and care for the residents were evident every day. Her excellence did not go unnoticed — she was honored as Employee of the Month, a recognition that reflected not just her work ethic, but the kindness and compassion she brought to her role. Prior to that, she excelled as a hi-low driver supervisor, showing leadership, reliability, and a strong ability to bring out the best in others.
Above all else, Stefania loved her family deeply. They were the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Whether celebrating milestones, sharing everyday conversations, or simply being present, she gave her love freely and fully. Her loyalty, her gentle heart, and the quiet strength she carried through life will forever be remembered.
Stefania leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and love — a life lived with sincerity and heart. She will be missed more than words can express and remembered always by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Stefania was the beloved mother of Sonya Jemison and Nicole (Kola) Gjonaj. Loving grandmother of Gregory A. Collins, Gabrielle Gjonaj, Georgina (Dominic) Gjonaj, Geannine Gjonaj, Govanni (Alejandra) Gjonaj, Geonovese Gjonaj, and soon-to-be great-grandmother of 2 on the way. Dear sister of Danuta Morris, the late Andreas (Marilyn) Chochol, and the late Barbara Chochol. Cherished aunt of Philip (Melinda) Olszewski, Stacey Olszewski, Brace (Michelle) McGillivary, the late Rick Morris, Chris (Jennifer) Morris, Leslie (Ace) Merlino, David Chochol, and Mark (Alia) Chochol. She is also survived by a host of great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Stefania will be held on Sunday, December 14th from 3-8pm with a Funeral Service at 7pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI.
