

Stephan Edward Kuzmicki, age 82, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Stephan was born August 24, 1931 in Hamtramck, Michigan, son of the late Nick Kuzmicki and the late Sophie (nee: Wisniewski) Kuzmicki.Stephan was raised in Detroit and graduated from Pershing High School. While in high school, Stephan excelled at sports especially football and baseball. At one point in his baseball career, Stephan was being scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates for a professional career, however the War in Korea was ramping up and Uncle Sam came calling for more troops.Stephan served in the United States Navy and achieved the rank of Gunner's Mate Third Class. He served from October of 1950 until he was honorably discharged on August 5, 1954. Upon his return to the Detroit area, Stephan was employed as a truck driver for a short time before joining Chrysler Motors. Mr. Kuzmicki would work for over 34 years at Chrysler Motors as a painter in the skilled trades and later in management before retiring. Following his retirement, Mr. Kuzmicki returned to the workforce as a Black Jack card dealer for the St. Ignace Casino and later worked as a dealer at the Greektown Casino.When Stephan was not working, his life revolved around his family, children, and grandchildren. Quiet time at home was spent playing cards or watching any sporting event, especially hockey and baseball. He cherished his time at the Northern Michigan retreat in Indian River and playing with his favorite dogs... Julie 1 and Julie 2. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for storytelling that his children and grandchildren will relish in the years to come.Mr. Kuzmicki is the beloved husband of Rose Marlene (nee: Dolesky), and the dear father of Stephanie (Tony) Nahas, Patti (Mike) Gruber, Terry (the late Danny) Maccune, and Karen (Rick) Maes. Loving grandfather of Katie Nahas, Tony (Patty) Nahas, Stephan Nahas, Andrew Nahas, Dallas Crandell, Michael (Amber) Gruber, Nicholas (Anna) Gruber, Amanda (Julian) Brown, Joseph (Rebekah) Gruber, Ryan Kenner, Jesse (Lindsay) Maes, Adam Maes, Rick Maes, and Alexis Maes. Mr. Kuzmicki was the great grandfather of Anthony IV, Skye, Scarlett, Kaitlyn, Jonathan, Molly, JJ, and Macie. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, the late Carrie (Vito) Ranks, and the late Julie (Jim) Gibson.A Memorial Visitation for Mr. Kuzmicki will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 10am until the time of his Memorial Service at 12Noon at the D.S.
