Stephen Belcich, age 96, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. Stephen was born August 23, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Thomas Belcich and the late Julia (nee: Crnkovic) Belcich.
Stephen was raised in Detroit where he also attended and graduated from high school. He later served his country honorably, within the United States Army, while defending her during World War II.
With thanks and praise, Stephen returned home following his military service and joined the workforce. Stephen worked for Champion Sparkplugs for many years before his retirement.
Away from his work, Stephen was a private man who enjoyed reading and traveling. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his close friend flying in his four-seat private plane. Although Stephen did not fly himself, he acted as the copilot and photographer during their many flights around Michigan and beyond. Stephen loved the freedom of flight and the photographs he could obtain from the air. In addition to his short trips in the air, Stephen loved to visit Las Vegas for the entertainment and shows featuring the likes of Frank Sinatra, Danny Thomas, and Elvis.
Stephen was the beloved uncle of RoseAnn Basic, and great-uncle of Kathy (Randy) Walters, Donna Stahl, Nick (Melissa) Basic, and the late Michael Basic. He is also survived by many loving family members and friends.
