Beloved wife of Frederick for 58 beautiful years, Vicki was the heart of her home. She was the cherished mother of Mike (Tammy) Genette and the proud grandma of Alyssa and Brett Genette, whom she loved to spoil at every opportunity. She was the loving sister of Karen (the late Stanley), Janice (the late Paul), and the late Sherry (Gary) Sasek. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Vicki was kind, warm, and devoted to taking care of her family. As Mike grew up, Vicki and Fred never missed a single hockey game, and when she became a proud grandmother she was cheering them on just as much at their hockey games. They became close friends with many of the hockey families, building lasting relationships.
Family adventures were at the center of Vicki’s happiest days. Together, they traveled more times through Michigan than they could count, returning year after year to favorite places. She especially loved the annual trips to Frankenmuth for the car show, the scenic beauty of the Upper Peninsula, and the simple joy of relaxing with Fred at the casinos. Her favorite place of all was Mackinaw City, where she found peace sitting by the shore, looking out over the water.
Vicki also shared an unbreakable bond with her dear group of lifelong friends, the golden girls. Their monthly gatherings brought her tremendous joy.
She was a gifted cook and a truly exceptional baker. Her cakes beautifully decorated and made with love were the highlight of countless birthdays, graduations, and family milestones. Christmas morning at Vicki’s was a grand breakfast spread of eggs, ham, sausage, pancakes, her famous strudel, homemade cookies, and more. The family cherished the tradition and sometimes looked forward to it more than the presents.
Memorial visitation Monday, November 24th from 2pm until 8pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, MI. There will be a memorial service at 2pm at the funeral home.
