Walter J. Lewandowski, 88, of Warren, died Thursday, July 22,2004 at St. John Hospital in Detroit. He was born March 19, 1916 in the Bronx, NY. He moved to the Detroit area as an infant and lost his parents soon after the move. He was raised by his brother and sister; Eddie and Sophie. Walter married his wife of 67 years, Wanda, in 1937. He worked at Michigan Special Machine Company/Bendix for over 30 years as a tool crib attendant. While working there he loved the daily poker games during lunch. Going to the casino and playing the lottery were favorite pastimes for Walter. He loved to spend time with his family, especially going out to eat with them. Walter will be missed by his wife Wanda; children Beverley (Leonard) Lukomski, Bob (Charlene), Darlene Grillo, Jan (Nick) Hrisopoulos; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and brother Eddie. He is predeased by his sister Sophie. Visitation for Walter will be Friday from 2-9 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. He will be in state Saturday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church at 11:30 am until the mass at 12:00 noon.
