Dr. William James McIntyre, age 57 of Cedar Park, Texas (and a native Michigander), died Friday, November 3, 2017 at home. He was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1959 in Highland Park, Michigan, son of Peggy (nee: Brignall) and the late James McIntyre.A Clinical Professor who began his storied and distinguished career right here in Detroit at Wayne State University, Dr, McIntyre first earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy, then went on to expand his credentials by obtaining his Pharm.D. in 1988. While in pursuit of his educational goals, William was invited to serve his pharmaceutical residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan which he completed in 1983. Four years later he entered his clinical residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center which spanned from 1987-1989. That would ultimately be followed by William's fellowship in cancer immunology at both the University of Texas College of Pharmacy in Austin, and the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, from 1991-1993.With a shining and impressive resume, Dr. McIntyre provided leadership for both clinical & pharmacy practice program development, post-Pharm.D. clinical training programs, and the Pharm.D. experimental program. In Addition, he served as the administrative liaison to the cooperative pharmacy programs with the University of Texas Pan-American (UTPA) in the Rio Grande Valley and the University of Texas at El Paso. Dr. McIntyre also served as a critical administrative liaison in interactions with other academic health units at the University of Texas in Austin, the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, the University of Texas Southwestern Campuses, as well as with major healthcare provider institutions. William was quite the busy fellow, but he did manage to balance things a bit by supporting the fine folks at the Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas, an organization committed to being the compassionate caregiver's to many of our furry friends out there in need of rescuing. All William needed to do was gaze into the eyes of those precious pups,…and his heart was stolen. A caregiver himself to many of these cuddly creatures, William was truly instilled with a special sense of animal love that guided his heart and being. And if he wasn't caring for his canine cuties, William could often be found caring for a different sort of living creatures,…his beauties out in the garden. He loved to till the soil and extend his own brand of tender-loving-care into the nurturing of its splendor and growth, and it was truly evident. William was the beloved son of Peggy and the late James McIntyre. Dear brother of the late Charles, and brother-in-law of Susan McIntyre. He was also the loving uncle of Kathryn, Sharon, and Stephen. A Memorial Visitation for Dr. McIntyre will be held Saturday, November 11th from 2-3 pm, with a 3 pm Memorial Service, at the D.S.
