William F. Schmidt

William Fred Schmidt, age 85 a longtime resident of Warren and recently of Troy, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. William was born August 25, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Oscar and the late Mary (nee: Schenck) Schmidt. He was raised in Detroit and served in the Army during the Korean War having attained the rank of Private 1st Class. Mr. Schmidt returned to the Detroit area following his service to his country and went to work for General Motors. William worked for General Motors in Detroit and Warren as a Production Control Supervisor for over 42 years. When Bill was not working he enjoyed golfing and bowling. However family time was his passion, he cherished his time coaching little league games for his boys and the many summer family retreats up at Higgins Lake. Mr. Schmidt was the beloved husband of the late Madonna, and the dear father of Anne (Tim) Pancost, Michael (Sally) Schmidt, and Patrick (Deena) Schmidt. He is the cherished grandfather of Jack, Janey, Grace, Nick, Joe, Abbey, Ella, and the brother of the late Dorothy Schmidt. Visitation for Mr. Schmidt will be Sunday from 3-9pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Mr. Schmidt will lie in state 10:00am, Monday St. Louise Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Rev. Monsignor Michael Dylag.
