

Born in São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of Joao "John" F. Porto and Maria (Craveiro) Porto.
Mrs. Rupp earned her B.A. in Sociology from Roger Williams University and was a candidate for a Master's degree in Social Work. Over the course of her career, Mary was a dedicated mental health counselor at Codac East, Edgehill Outpatient Clinic, and the Robert J. Wilson House, Inc., and finally a substitute teacher in Bristol Warren Regional Schools.
In addition to her husband, Charles, she is survived by her children, Charles "Chuck" R. Rupp, III and his wife Nancy of ST. Johnsbury, VT, and Jennifer L. Rupp of San Diego, CA; sisters, Mary Lou Drolet, Sandra Sevigny, and the late Maria Lourdes Porto; brothers, Manuel C. Porto and John F. Porto, Jr; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 at 9:30AM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home located at 615 Main St., Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol, and a burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
