Payson B. Averill, Jr.

Payson “Pat” B. Averill, Jr., age 88, of Bristol, RI and formerly of Brewster and North Attleboro, MA, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Julia (Dockrey) Averill, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Payson B., Sr. and Edna (Parks) Averill.

A graduate of Hingham High School, Class of 1951, he earned a Bachelor’s degree at University of New Hampshire, Class of 1955, and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Averill was a sales manager for many years before retiring. He was a life-long member of the VFW Post #10274 in Dennis, MA, and an avid New England sports fan.

In addition to his wife survivors include: one son, Payson “Chuck” Averill and his wife Kimberly of Bristol, RI; one daughter, Elizabeth Riddell and her husband George of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren, Payson Averill, Evan Averill and Jake Riddell; one sister, Judith Pedersen and several nieces and nephews. His funeral and burial were private. Arrangements are in the care of Wilbur Romano Funeral Home.
