Stephen A Ferri, age 98, of Warren died peacefully on June 13, 2019. One of thirteen children of Thomas and Mary (Sullo) Ferri. Born into what would later be called: “The Greatest Generation." He married his high school sweetheart Orella Lessard. Immediately after the honeymoon he served in Army Intelligence both in the European and African theater of WWII. His wife told him "She would rather have a short marriage to a man she loved, than no marriage at all." Upon returning home, he worked at The Crown Fastener in Warren and later a mail carrier for the US Postal service. The two built a home in Warren, had a daughter, Ginger Dale and son, Stephen A. Ferri, Jr. They remained at each others side until her death in 2000.
A lifelong Warren resident he took great pride in his town and family. He retired to a life full of travel, antiquing, and playing with his five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His sole passion was for his family and worked tirelessly to create a caring, loving and inviting home. In his later years he took to wood carving and could usually be found at his home, watching sailboats pass or dozing in a chair as the sun set on the Warren river. Never could you leave his house without a stomach full of food, heart warmed stories of his true love Orella or pockets flush with candy bars. “Everything in moderation,” is what he would say, though he didn’t take his own advice, as he lived life to the absolute fullest.
His visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren. Funeral and burial will be private.
