

She was born in Washington, DC on March 19, 1946, and was raised in Bethesda, Maryland. She attended grade school at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bethesda, graduating in 1960 and attended Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, graduating in 1964.
Ann Marie was a born caretaker who had a passion for people. This passion led her to pursue an education and career in nursing. She attended St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, Minnesota and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1968. After college, she went to Alaska for two years to work with the Native Americans and Eskimos through the United States Public Health Service. She loved and cherished her time in Alaska which had a profound impact on her life. She retired as a Lieutenant Commander of the United States Public Health Service.
After Alaska, Ann Marie returned to Bethesda to work as a psychiatric nurse at the National Institute of Health and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing in 1977 from The Catholic University of America. This is also the year that she was also introduced to her husband Marty. They were married in May of 1979 for 20 years until his death in 1999.
Ann Marie also volunteered as a hospice worker for Holy Cross Hospital, providing comfort and care to many wonderful people during their last days.
She was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Mercy in Potomac, Maryland, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was involved in numerous charities and volunteered with the Christ Child Society for many years, holding several roles including President of her local chapter.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Agnes Rose and Harry Leo Doran, her brother Charles Doran, sister Eileen, and husband Martin F. Lynott. She is succeeded by her two daughters Marita Rose and Monica Ann, son-in-law Marcelo Torquemada, and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
A gathering will be held at Joseph Gawler’s Sons on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 5pm-8pm, at 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 9200 Kentsdale Drive, Potomac, Maryland. All friends and family are welcomed and appreciated. In remembrance of Ann Marie’s life and love, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
