J. Sprigg Duvall IV

Died peacefully on May 7, 2014, surrounded by family. Sprigg was born in Washington, DC on January 11, 1929, son of J. Sprigg Duvall III and Marguerite Chase Duvall, and was a longtime resident of Potomac, Maryland. Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eleanor Hjerpe Duvall. Loving father of Susan Duvall of Chevy Chase, Carol Duvall of Rockville, J. Sprigg Duvall V (Donna Vershay) of Potomac, Deborah Saffer (Daniel) of Silver Spring, Philip Duvall (Susan) of Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania and Sandra Meyer (Ray) of The Woodlands, Texas. Also survived by his sister Chloe Troxell and brother-in-law Kenneth Troxell of Rockville, six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 9 and 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10 at Joseph Gawler's Sons Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 10 at Joseph Gawler's Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
