

James (Jim) William Pagels, 29, passed away in Washington DC on April 9, 2021. Born on July 28, 1991 in West Hills, Los Angeles, CA to William and Dignora Pagels. Jim grew up in Coppell, TX and graduated from Coppell High School in 2009. He got a Bachelors of Arts in English from Columbia University in New York City in 2013, a Masters of Science in Mathematics and Statistics from Georgetown University in Washington DC in 2019 and was working on his PhD in Economics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Jim loved playing board games, strategizing for his fantasy football league, playing tennis, hiking and biking with friends, discussing economics with colleagues and going to trivia nights. He had a quick smile and a wicked sense of humor. Jim also started to take interest in plants, cooking and feeding the neighborhood cats. A true intellectual with a thirst for learning. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Diggy, his sister Laura Menendez and her husband Troy Menendez and their 3 children, Lucy, Peter and Rose. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Victor and Dignora Rodriguez and his grandfather Norbert Pagels
