

She was born June 12, 1925 to Margaret Ruth Moore Jordan and Hunter Nevin Jordan in Atlanta, Georgia. She was married to Max Lee Hibbs on September 21, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia, and who predeceased her on January 11, 1996. Her parents and her brother, Hunter Nevin Jordan predeceased her.
A graduate of Girls High School of Atlanta, Georgia, and the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. She was a member of Di Gamma Kappa, Theta Sigma Phi, Alpha Phi sorority, and an editor of the staff of the Red and Black student paper at the University of Georgia.
She worked in advertising agencies in Atlanta, Georgia, public relations for the American Heart Association in Kingsport, Tennessee and a staff writer for the news bureau at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She joined Collins Radio in 1973, which became Rockwell International. There she served as Manager of Proposal Development in the Commercial Division. As Manager, Jeannette was instrumental in obtaining equal pay for female employees. She retired in 1987.
Jeannette was a member of the Women in Communications, and the National Management Association. She was a long time member of the Poetry Society of Texas, and in particular The Mockingbird Poetry Society. She had poetry books published and was the recipient of many awards for her writings. Her passions also included travel all over the world, meeting new friends, and dancing.
Upon moving to Richardson, Texas, in 1968 she joined the congregation of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson, where she was a member until her death.
She is survived by her four children, daughters Gwenn Lee Hibbs of Bethesda, Maryland, Dr. B, Janet Lyn Hibbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kelcie A. Hibbs of Fort Worth, Texas, and son, Kendall Jordan Hibbs of McKinney, Texas. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Earl Marsh, grandsons, Jared Marsh and William Marsh all of Philadelphia. Her nieces, Susan Jarrard and husband Dale of Cartersville, Georgia, Jeanie Jordan and husband Garry of Cleveland, Georgia, great-nieces Valerie Jarrad Dyke, husband Richard and their children Ali and Damian, Samantha George of Athens, Texas, and great nephews Larry Jarrad, wife Teri, and their daughters Rachel and Emily Jarrard, and Andrew George of North Carolina.
She had a large group of close family friends who have been there for her in this journey including Bobbye Hood, Beth Scarborough, Barbara Smith, Marie Rallis, David Knape, Pearl Wallach, Datie Brownlee and the members of The Mockingbird Poetry Society.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 16th at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson, 503 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas 75080 Private internment at Pecan Grove Cemetery McKinney, Texas for family only.
