

Jerry J. Jasinowski of Washington, D.C. passed away on January 22, 2025 at the age of 86. He was a devoted family man and distinguished leader in the Washington business community. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served in Vietnam as an intelligence officer and went on to teach at the Air Force Academy. Jerry moved to Washington for a job with the Joint Economic Committee and later joined the Carter presidential campaign. He served in the Carter administration as the Assistant Secretary for Policy in the Commerce Department.
Jerry devoted much of his career to the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), where he was President and CEO from 1990 until 2004. Passionate about strengthening American manufacturing, he founded the nonprofit Manufacturing Institute to develop the industry's future workforce and engage students, women, and veterans. Today, the Institute leads in driving manufacturing recruitment, retention, and training nationwide, a testament to Jerry’s legacy and vision.
Jerry was born January 4, 1939 in LaPorte, Indiana to Estelle Carlson (nee Reznik) and Bruno Jasinowski. He graduated from Indiana University in 1962, earned a Masters in Economics from Columbia University in 1972, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Jerry was a dedicated athlete and philanthropist with longstanding leadership positions at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation and the Shakespeare Theatre.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Isabel, his sister Karen, brother Scott, sons Abe and Paul, daughter Anne Marie, and grandchildren Nik, Sophie, and Peter.
Church services will be held 11am on February 7th at Blessed Sacrament Church, preceded by a visitation wake from 4-7pm on February 6th at Gawler’s Funeral Home in Washington, D.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation in honor of Jerry.
