Marjorie was born in Washington DC and graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. She attended the University of Maryland, where she earned her BA in Home Economics. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bob, and the two were married on October 10, 1969. They were blessed with two children, Ken and Gray, and she devoted her life to raising their family in Potomac, Maryland. She enjoyed giving back to her community. She was a founding member and President of the Metropolitan Community Club and Chairwoman of the Women’s Board of the American Heart Association Annual Fundraising Luncheon. Marjorie was a cancer survivor, and her strength and grit during this time became a testament to her unyielding will, beating the odds for many years.
Marjorie loved spending time with friends & family. Waterskiing, golfing, bowling, and birding were some of her favorite pastimes. A skilled golfer, she had a hole-in-one at Congressional. She was an avid birder and logged over 1,100 birds in her journal. Margie was also a talented photographer and enjoyed taking pictures of the birds she spotted. As a loving and creative grandmother, not a day went by where she wasn’t planning a new, intricate craft for her grandchildren. Margie was also fond of sharing family recipes and cooking with loved ones. She was always puzzling and challenging herself through numerous Sudokus and other brain games.
Marjorie is survived by her loving husband, Bob Bedingfield; her two children, Gray (John) Blacklock and Ken (Linda) Bedingfield; her seven grandchildren, Marjorie (Blake) Gethmann, Kimberly (Devin) McGrath, Stephanie Dean, Megan Bedingfield, Morgan Bedingfield, Lindsey Bedingfield, and Brady Bedingfield, and her two great-grandchildren, Marjorie Gethmann and James McGrath.
