

Rita Hertzog Schultze, of Washington, DC, died on February 5, 2014 at the age of 88 after a short illness. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles L. Schultze, and six children, Karen Hoffman, Kevin Schultze, Lynn Jones, Kathleen Schultze, Carol Kasunic, Chris Weintrob, 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her sister, Helen Linhard of Baltimore, MD. Rita, a lifelong resident of Washington, DC graduated Blessed Sacrament School and Holy Cross High School in Washington, DC. She received a BA degree from New Rochelle College, NY. She worked for George Washington University as a librarian. She also did extensive volunteer work for the Christ Child Society and Meals on Wheels. She and Charlie traveled extensively, both here in the US and abroad. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Montgomery Hospice (www.montgomeryhospice.org).There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 9 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Joseph Gawler's Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday, February 10 at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 3630 Quesada Street NW, Washington, DC. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will follow.
