Susan O'Hearn Temkin

Sue was born on December 14, 1954 in Norwich, Connecticut, daughter of the late Joseph B. O’Hearn and Rita M. Stanley. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1972 and went on to earn a B.A. from the University of Connecticut in 1976, a J.D. from the Western New England College School of Law in 1979, and an LL.M in Taxation from the NYU School of Law in 1980. Sue worked for many years as a tax attorney, first at the IRS and later at several firms, including Verner Liipfert, DLA Piper, and Squire Patton Boggs. Outside of work, she was an avid gardener. She also enjoyed flower arranging and pottery.

Sue was preceded in death by her sister, Donna L. O’Hearn, and stepmother, Dulcini “Beth” O’Hearn. She is survived by her husband, Charles B. Temkin; her children, Jacqueline L. Temkin (Joshua Metz) and Nicholas B. Temkin; her brother, Timothy J. O’Hearn (Joan Ryan); and niece and nephews Kelly J. McNamara, Ryan T. McNamara (Erin), and Kyle T. O’Hearn (Nicole).

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, January 19, 2026 at the DeVol Funeral Home in Washington. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to GallopNYC, a therapeutic equine-assisted nonprofit.
