Carl Johnson, 87, died peacefully on December 21, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on September 16, 1938, the oldest of four children, growing up in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. He earned a degree in solid-state physics from Penn State University, where he met the love of his life, Becky Johnson, his wife of 55 years, who predeceased him.
Carl and Becky raised their family in Wappingers Falls, New York. After retiring, they moved to North Carolina, later settling in The Villages, Florida, before returning to New York. He spent his final year living with his son, surrounded by care, love, and family.
Carl spent 25 years at IBM, where he worked as a manager of the pilot line. He was knowledgeable on almost any topic and known for his fierce independence and a stubborn streak that matched his determination. An original DIY guy, Carl could fix just about anything. He enjoyed working on cars and small engines, tinkering with computers, bowling, and hunting. He especially loved feeling the sunshine on his face. A devoted member of his church, Carl served faithfully as an usher.
