

Ismael Hernandez, a resident of Salisbury Mills, New York, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born on March 26, 1938, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
Ismael was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a hardworking provider who dedicated his life to his family and community. A skilled Chief Engineer by profession, he was respected for his strong work ethic, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Originally from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Ismael later made his home in the Bronx and Rockland County, New York, where he raised his family and built a life centered around love, sacrifice, and opportunity. He taught his family the value of hard work, the importance of providing for others, and the strength found in never giving up.
Beyond his career, Ismael was a talented saxophonist and gifted tradesman whose creativity and passion touched many lives. His warmth, wisdom, and enduring spirit will continue to live on through his wife, Loida A. Hernandez; his son, Louis; his daughter, Gloria as well as by his cherished grandchildren; Brock, Alexis, and Angelina.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will take place the following morning, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the funeral home, followed by interment at Washingtonville Cemetery.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. His wife and family will continue on with his spirit in this journey.
