Mary Irene Antona of Washingtonville entered into rest on May 23, 2010 at home. She was 86.

She was born in Susquehanna, PA on July 13, 1923 to Joseph and Hazel DeGarmo.

She graduated from Matamoras High School in 1941 and attended Fordham University School of Nursing and Graduated Middletown State Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. Mary enjoyed a 40-year career as a registered nurse at Goshen Hospital and Arden Hill Hospital.

Mary was the widow of Piero Antona.

She is survived by her children: Peter Antona and his wife, Connie of Goshen, Kathryn McAfee of Centerville, OH, Thomas Antona and his wife, Janet of Slate Hill, Mark Antona of Highland, Drew Antona and his girlfriend, Jessica Cantalupo of Washingtonville and daughter-in-law, Lori Antona of Washingtonville; brother, William DeGarmo and his wife, Shirley of Matamoras, PA; grandchildren: Samantha and Sydney Antona of Highland, Abby and Juliann Antona of Washingtonville, Seth, Kimberly, Justin and Krista Antona of Slate Hill, Patrick McAfee of Centerville, OH, Danielle McAfee Taylor and her husband, Brian of Quincy, MA, Courtney Antona, Meghan Antona Goldsmith and her husband, Christopher of Washingtonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Brown.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 26, from 6-9 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Washingtonville.
