

Waterville—Bertha Ouellette Daigle, 96, died August 29, 2012. She was born in Kamouraska, Quebec on July 6, 1916. The daughter of the late Placide & Fedora (Michaud) Ouellette, she came to Maine and married Aldric J. Daigle on September 14, 1940.
Bertha was a very kind and lovable person who was loved by all who came in contact with her. She worked at C.F. Hathaway Co.; Sterns Dept. Store & Levine’s Men’s Clothing Store as a seamstress, later doing work at home for friends and relatives as she was an exceptional seamstress.
She was always ready to join family and friends at a moment’s notice whether it was going on a trip, family gatherings or out for dinner. Her positive attitude, smile, and wit were contagious to everyone around her. She enjoyed life and made life enjoyable to everyone who came in contact with her.
For many years, Bertha volunteered at Maine General Medical Center and she was very active in the Daughters of Isabella and the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW.
Besides her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husband Aldric J. Daigle who passed away in 1972, a daughter Phyllis Ann Daigle who died a year later in 1973, and two brothers Jean & Albert Ouellette.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Lucille D. Zelenkewich and her husband Felix of Winslow and Inga Ferrara and her husband Lenny from Raynam, MA and a son Roland J. Daigle from Malden, MA; 4 grandchildren, Melissa Zelenkewich, Christopher Zelenkewich, Greg Daigle and Tracey Caputo; 4 great-grandchildren, Avery & Cooper Daigle, Sophia & Nolan Caputo, a very special sister-in-law, Theresa Blanche Fortin and a very good friend Pauline Veilleux.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mount St. Joseph for the wonderful care and attention given their mother during her stay at the nursing home.
