I thought of you today John. And the several times you came in my home. The time you anointed, and blessed my grandson is his crib. He was just an infant. And how you told my daughter that her son is very special. His 13 now and he carry’s his uncle Bible and reads is a lot. He never knew his uncle. His uncle passed before he was born. I gave my grandson my brothers Bible recently. Because he’s a strong believer in Jesus. I haven’t told my grandson about you John. But tomorrow I am going to. I still have the hand held wooden cross you gave me. Your always in my heart ❤️ and soul. I will pass the cross onto my grandson. He will cherish as well as I have all these years. I miss you John one day I will see you again.

He came into my work often, and eventually knew me by name. He would tell me he loved my name, and that I was beautiful. After having met him, I always made it a point to wave to him when we passed him on the street. The nicest man you could ever meet, if you took the time to get to know him! He will be missed!

 I first met John when I moved to Waterville at St Francis cemetery walking my dogs. I admit I was a bit cautious of him at first, but soon found him enduring. So sad to hear of his passing.

I was heart broken when I heard the news. Although we never met he will always be remembered has the the man who always made me smile. His presence will be missed deeply..God bless you John.

You enriched our lives and were a true spiritual asset to Waterville.  Your memory is with us. Now, all the mysteries of the universe are known to you. We will miss you.

He had blessed everyone and anything no matter who he met or where he went. I'm thankful not only to have seen him walking around the city as Ihad drove by, but I had got to speak to him a few times while I had gone to various stores with in the city.I may have not remembered his name, but knew his face, and his famous crosses he carried with him. May he be one of our Guardian angels sent to us from Heaven if we should ever are in need of one.

I'm not sure how long I've known John Lewis, but I just found out that he went to Heaven and I already miss his smiling face. John would come to the Yardgoods Center and he'd oder wooden crosses of all sizes to paint in variouscolors.
He always had a smile and we told each other we'd pray for everyone who needed a prayer. He always had time to listen and give you a blessing with his cross. As I entered the Blessed Sacrament daily, I usually crossed paths with John as he held his cross high in the sky toward the cross on the Chapel's Steeple VENITE ADORAMUS.
John, you spread the Word of God on a Daily basis to all you met.

You lifted my spirits every time I saw you. You were a blessing to mankind.  I miss you already.I am sure you are watching over us, and asking for blessings for all of us from your new home.

I have been living up on this area since 99 and remember seeing this man every time I went into Waterville walking and waving his cross.I thought he was such a kind and good man and he would always bring a smile to my face.I would always wave to him as he would bless Waterville or around him.Now I know your name ..John may you celebrate now you are truley home..You will be missed.

John will be missed by many in the Waterville area.  I truly believe our community was blessed over and over by this man.  I also feel that by his blessings he saved my boy's life and that of his friends when their canoe tipped over in the Kennebec.  He was on the bridge and was waving that cross as fast as he could!  My son went running up to him after and thanked him - he said, "Don't thank me, run home and thank the Lord."  God Bless him - he is now home.

He was a kind soul.   He always made me smile in contentment when I saw him on the streets blessing everything.   he was a gentleman and I will miss seeing him take care of our community.

i just heard about johns homegoing...i lived in maine for about 8 yrs....met john once...at a shop i worked at...in waterville..but saw him always on the streets blessing everything and everyone............you will be missed by many..but because of your faithfullness...many will see you again....

RIP John....I can remember when I met John, years ago...what a genuine Christian man....never a harsh word....he loved his mom and spoke of her daily, he loved his community and he loved God and always carried his cross and blessed everyone he came in contact with....and every car that passed him. I offered him a ride home from the market one day, and he shared that he had a mission to bless the people on his walk home. Amazing example of a life lived with the right intent with a soft heart. John will be missed by many, many people. God Bless you my friend.

Uncle John will be dearly missed. He touched the lives of those he met with his warmth, compassion and generosity. He embodied the change he wanted to see in the world with his faith and love of people. I will never forget our times together. I know my uncle would be deeply touched by the outpouring of kind words and blessings. I take comfort in knowing he is at peace.


 John, you are finally where you want to be, with the Lord you so unselfishly served on this earth.

You immediately intrigued me with your love of God, of mankind and your love of family. We had a lot of talks since that first meeting, and I loved learning about you and your family and how happy a person you really were. You were so kind to everyone and did a good deed for the City of Waterville. You surely brightened my day when I passed you going to and from work, waving your cross and smiling. I loved to slow down, open my window and wave and toot my horn to you just to let you know that I was happy to see you. You made me feel joy and blessed for what I had, even if I had just gotten out of work and things didn't go so well. You made a lot of people feel better, whether you knew that or not. I will miss you when I go to Waterville, John. Thank you for what you gave me. Thank you.............

I did not know John, but my children and I frequently saw him. His blessings touched me each time I passed him. He will be missed.

Whenever we drove by John, we always gave a toot and a wave, knowing he was probably sending up prayers for us and those in his daily path through town. Waterville will miss John dearly.  What a blessing he was to us all.

Although I didn't know him, he ALWAYS made me smile when I saw him!  He will Definately be missed.

I'm saddened to hear of Mr. Lewis's passing.  I never knew his name, and it is through his obituary that I discovered I know his sister and niece.  I will miss seeing him blessing everyone and everything in Waterville.  His kindness & love for God were gentle reminders of the important things. While working on the ambulance, he would always stop what he was doing and bless our trucks as we went by, whether we were headed to a call or not.  It was always appreciated.  May you rest in peace in your beautiful kingdom with the Lord.

John thank you for allowing me to be part of your life and taking a walk with you it was awesome and sharing Gods word with me as well.

I will miss seeing John everyday on my lunch hour, on the little bridge by CVS, giving me my little blessing as I drove by, But I know you are in a much better place now, Still waving your cross.

You were such a huge inspiration to me. I absolutely loved seeing you on the days you stopped by Inland. I always tried to time it so that I was the one who got to visit with you in my office. We had some wonderful conversations. I will truly miss you and your wonderful smile. Look up my dad when you get there. I think you two would be great friends.
