Kenneth L. Stevens

He was born August 14, 1931 in Oakland, the son of Ormand T. and Florence (White) Stevens. On June 14, 1952 he married Lorraine M. Butler and shared 57 wonderful years together.

Spending time with his family and friends were important to him. He loved playing cards and going to Hollywood Slots with his daughter and son. One of his recent favorite past times was to bake cookies and apple pies. He was so proud of his apple pies and shared them with everyone who came to visit. Kenneth enjoyed traveling with his wife Lorraine and they experienced many sights of the United States. He and Lorraine wintered in Florida with several close friends from Maine. His two children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Kenneth started working for Warren Brothers Road Co. in 1949. It was purchased by Ashland Oil Inc. and the construction portion of this company was later purchased by British Tire & Rubber Co. It was then purchased by Thomas Tillings, known as, Tilcon Maine Inc. Through those many owners Kenneth progressed up the ranks to become a superintendent at the Fairfield Maine Branch of Tilcon Maine. He retired in 1995 after 46 years of service.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Lorraine, 3 brothers, Ormand T. Stevens Jr., Leonard W. Stevens, and Edward J. Stevens, and 2 sisters, Margaret Stevens and Katherine M. Crawford.

Surviving are his two children, Laurel Nabarowsky and her husband Jim of Belgrade and Kevin Stevens of Belgrade, 2 granddaughters, Eliza Butler and her husband Wade of Brewer and Kelly Nabarowsky and her husband Joel Davis of Fort Worth, TX, 1 grandson, Derek Nabarowsky of Rome, 2 great grandchildren, Haylee Beckim of Fort Worth, TX and Jacoby Butler of Brewer, 4 sisters, Frances Barrett of Waterville, Annie T. Knight of Belgrade, Rosa M. Shaw and her husband Glenwood of Augusta, and Retha J. Libby of Belgrade, along with many sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Friends are invited to visit Friday, Nov. 19th from 2-4PM & 6-8PM at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville, ME. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 20th at 11AM at the funeral home, burial immediately following at Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. A celebration of life gathering will be held following the burial at The Center for All Seasons in, Belgrade Lakes.

The family would like to thank the staff at Inland Hospital, Health Reach Hospice, and Dr. Teresa Farrington for their excellent care and compassion during their difficult time. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.
