

ArrangemWinslow —Boucher, Richard E., 89, died August 11, 2011 at the Maine Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta. He was born in Fairfield, July 19, 1922 to Robert W. and Bette D. (Goodfellow) Boucher, both emigrating from England.
Richard served in the US Army during World War II, assigned to Battery B 459th Antiaircraft Arterial Battalion, participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for the Maine Central Railroad, retiring in 1982 after 31 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Waterville and the VFW in Winslow. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering and puttering around the house and he especially loved mowing the lawn.
Richard was predeceased by his parents; 2 sisters Mary Ellen “Nellie” Boucher Wyman and Edith M. Boucher Carr; & 3 brothers Leonard Boucher, Stanley W. Boucher and Harold E. Boucher.
He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Lorraine Hope Markee Boucher, the love of his life, whom he married on October 15, 1947 at the 1st Congregational Church in Waterville. They have 4 daughters Bette E. Boucher and her best friend Sammy of Waterville, Susan Levesque and husband Ronald Levesque of Fairfield, Marsha Gilbert and husband Arthur Gilbert of Winslow and Cynthia Ouellette and husband Joseph Ouellette of Oakland; 1 son David Boucher and wife Lynda Boucher of Danville, Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren (and 1 on the way), 25 great-grandchildren (and 1 on the way). He also survived by many brothers and sisters in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Visitation will be held 6-8 PM, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville. A private burial will be held at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery Chapel.
