

Winslow - Robert E. York, 84, of Barefoot Bay, Florida and Winslow, ME died Thursday (10/9) at the Palm Bay Life Center. Born in Farmington, Maine, he was raised and lived in Stratton, ME and came to Barefoot Bay in 1992 from Winslow, Maine. Bob retired as the Vice President of the Waterville Savings Bank and then worked for several years at Yankee Title Company of Augusta, ME. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Barefoot Bay since moving to Barefoot Bay. Even after he moved to Florida, he still spent his summers at Great Pond, Rome, ME where he had many wonderful friends.
Robert was a very civic minded person; serving his community as a member of the Waterville Lions club, Waterville Toastmasters Club, the Waterville Knights of Columbus, former Chairman and member of the Savings Banks Association of Maine Mortgage Committee, Associate councilman of American Institute of Banking, St. John the Baptist Parish Council, Finance Chairman of the Council, and also completed the Life Underwriter Training Course.
Once moving to Florida he became a member of the Polish-American Club of Vero Beach & Barefoot Bay, he was a volunteer at the Sebastian Medical Center for 14 years, Horseshoe Club of Barefoot Bay, Irish American Club of Barefoot Bay, Barefoot Bay Buggy Club, and the Men’s Club of St. Luke’s at Barefoot Bay.
Preceded in death by his father and mother: Clyde and Louise (Peters) and a son: David; Robert is survived by his wife: Mary Guiski; two sons: Steven (Lani) of Arundel, ME, James (Marjorie) of Winslow, ME; grandson: Don Perkins of Portland, ME; and great-grandchildren: Mason & Cole.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Veilleux Funeral Home. There will be a Memorial Mass celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Winslow on Tuesday, October 28, at 11AM followed by committal prayers at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to St. John’s Church C/O Corpus Christi Parish 70 Pleasant St. Waterville, Me 04901.
