Wayne Collins

1939-2011

Winslow - Wayne W. Collins, 71, died Monday, October 3, 2011, following a prolonged illness.

He was born in Dallas Plantation on October 17, 1939, the son of Wallace Collins and Evelyn Ross Collins.

Wayne led a full life with various interests that included hunting, fishing, four wheeling, rock hunting, faceting stones and flying. He was a member of the Spiritualist Church in Augusta and helped people with his spiritual readings. With his wife, Wayne enjoyed working their farm and caring for the many animals they rescued. His favorite pastime, by far, was having his morning coffee at various area restaurants with his friends

He is survived by his wife, Diana, of Winslow; his five children: Marie Rankins and her husband, David, of Pittston; Tammy Boyce and her companion, Steve, of Whitefield; Debra Mansir of Florida; Bethany Leavitt and her husband, Brian, of North Carolina; Benjamin Bergeron of Virginia; two sisters: Joyce Kasper of California; Annabelle Hollyfield of Arizona; two brothers: Donald Collins of Arizona; Eddie Collins of Rangeley; and eight grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Perley Collins and Lewis Ross.

A memorial service will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville. The family asks that in lieu of flowers please make a donation in Wayne's name to the Waterville Humane Society.
