Thanks to Loretta, our cousin, I am just reading  the Guest book entries about your Dad.  I read, and reread, the letters by you, his children, and they are so beautiful! He was a wonderful man, and he will now be guiding all of you forever, from his Heavenly home. This world needs more men like your Dad and it makes me happy to think  he left wonderful children to carry on our beautiful faith.I would love to meet you sometime,but at my age, 91 in July, we may not have the privilege of knowing one another. God bless and keep you.

Dad was a true spiritual leader, as a father should be for his family. His faith and relationship with Christ has been instilled in me, and has sustained me through everything life has thrown at me...Dad, I'll see you at the end of my days, and we will have such a celebration when we are all finally called home! I love you, Papa!

Dad was a man who loved to tell jokes. They were silly yet sweet, such as a man of his age and disposition would tell, He would revel in the telling so much that everyone would patiently wait to hear them again, for the sheer enjoyment dad would get from them.

His brother Greg, sisters Loraine and Rose, and dad were proud Scots all, as were their parents Alex R. and Florence. They were all steeped in Scottish tradition, lore and song. Theirs was a family whom had lived through the great depression, saw many hard times, yet each remained ever kindhearted, easy-going, and had an uncanny affinity for striking up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Mom would sometimes have to pry dad away from a stranger who returned a 'hello', for he would tend to ramble a bit in his friendliness.

Dad's faith in God was the driving force that led him to become a man who put an extremely high value on every person. ALL people took precedence over his own needs or desires. And, he was the kind of father whose strong hand and gentle touch, wisdom and naivety, mixed with a profound integrity, won him the admiration of many. 

Everyone who knew dad, from friends and neighbors to parishioners, doctors and caregivers, have always told me how loving and warm dad was, to which I would always reply "We have been blessed to have him as a father" or, "I am proud to be called his son". He was in every respect a great man.

Lastly, dad had the gift of long-suffering. This was a gift also shared by the rest of his family of the 1930's. From a meager upbringing to the many broken bones, heart surgery, depression, and being forced into an early retirement after many years of overtime working to raise his large family, he persevered. And at the very end, he even agreed to being put on a ventilator and trachea tube to give US the chance to have him around a while longer. Dad fought many battles in his last few months on earth, even though he himself was long ready to go to his reward.

Yet dad remained always the generous, kind man I have described here. It amazes me! How did you do that, dad? How DID you do that?! It is something most rare and valuable; perhaps from the whispered wailing of ancient Scottish struggle, a hope forged by grace from above. Whatever it is. it is something I hope will live on in every soul who knew him, with a little luck. Because it is something the world sorely needs in these trying times. Papa, YOU are something we ALL need!

I saw Dad as someone who was strong in the Love of God, a peacemaker, a man of deep values. He did what he knew was right most of the time, and was someone who could be trusted by everyone in the family. His memory lives on as a man of integrity, goodness, and purity of heart. May we all strive to have these qualities in us. We teach others through our actions more so than our words, Dad had both. May God bring rest to his spirit and free his life from suffering for good.

One of my favorite memories of Dad was Easter Sunday when I was five years old. I received a bunny rabbit along with the usual basket of goodies. While out in front of the house holding my bunny, a little boy pushed me to the ground and hie tailed off with the treasured rabbit. I must have cried as much over that as if my heart were broken. Dad took my hand and we walked door to door down many many blocks. After a time I felt that it was no use to keep on. Dad wouldn't stop searching for the stolen rabbit until at last, when he knocked on the door and I described the bunny yet again,the lady retrieved it off their dinner table and showed it to me. How surprised I was that I got it back! Dad I always treasure the kind,loving and endlessly persevering father you were, are and will always be.

Angus will be remembered by so many of us as a loving Husband and Father with an awesome sense of humor. Angus greeted everyone with an infectious smile, no matter how bad your day was you just had to reply in kind  :) 
 May God grant friends & family: peace, joy & comfort until the day they are each reunite with Angus in Glory

My dad was simply the best!!  I will miss him terribly but he will join my mom, his parents, and siblings in heaven.

What a lovely photo gallery. I never met your dad, Margaret, but from these photos, he looked to be a very loving, gentle man who enjoyed nature, outdoor activity, and most importantly, his family. You were blessed to have him. I see a lot of him in you. God bless you all.

I remember Angus as being a good son, brother and cousin.  He was happily married, worked at Ford Motor Co., raised his family and just seemed to be a contented family man.  He was steadfast in his Catholic faith and was proud of his Celtic Scottish heritage...along with being a big Tiger baseball fan. He suffered with health issues for a long time, however, he now is enjoying his rewards in Heaven.  Farewell my cousin, farewell...  Cousin Loretta MacDonald
