George Charles Guyor

Beloved husband of Karen Guyor. Loving father of Kim (Jeff) Klink, Scott Guyor and stepfather of Vicki Prieskorn, Jeff Prieskorn, Mike (Anne) Prieskorn and Jennifer (Brian) Grihorash. Cherished grandfather of Daniel Klink, Matthew Klink, Stephanie Guyor, Sarah Guyor, Megan (Chad) Morgan, Evan Prieskorn, Nathan Prieskorn, Allison Prieskorn, Taylor (James) Jacobson, Chase Grihorash, Brody Grihorash, Peyton Grihorash and Lainey Grihorash. Adored great grandfather of Melanie Morgan, Elliana and Alina Jacobson. Dearest brother of Lila (late Jack) VanAssche, the late Harry and Gilbert Guyor. In addition to his family, George is survived by his best friends from school, George Glancy and Bill Williams.

George was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1962. He completed basic training at Fort Knox in Kentucky and advanced training at Fort Polk in Louisiana. He was stationed at Schofield Barracks Army Base in Hawaii for two years and attained the rank of Private first class in the 35th Infantry Division. He also sang tenor in the Men's Club Officer’s Quartet.

George started working at General Motors (GMAD) at the Willow Run Plant after graduating from Romulus High School in 1959. Initially, he worked on the line putting headliners in Corvairs. He held various positions over the years, working as a supervisor in the scheduling and materials department, and finally in the body shop as a Quality Control Engineer. Advancement to this position required him to attend community college, and a high level of responsibility came with it. After 32 years, he retired from GM in 1991 but liked to keep busy. He continued to work part time until he was 80 in security for Waste Management and as a parts runner for a landscaping company.

George’s family and friends were most important to him. His children, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren lived nearby. He was close to all of them and never missed an opportunity to attend their music, theatrical or sporting events. A favorite pastime was to be in the woods hunting deer where success was measured mostly by the pure enjoyment of sitting beside his grandchildren. He enjoyed life, traveling and golfing with his wife, Karen. Every winter for the last 15 years they were fortunate to be able to spend winters in Florida. George owned several classic cars and he and Karen spent their summers attending classic car shows with the car club.

A celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the VFW Hall: 6440 N Hix Rd, Westland, MI 48185, gathering at 11:00 AM followed by a service at 12:00 PM with Military Honors. The family invites everyone to join them for lunch following the service.
