Born March 6, 1935 in Parkers Landing, PA, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Lavele McKee, Sr., and Hannah Marella (Sherwin) McKee.
Althea graduated from Parker High School, PA in 1952 where she earned perfect attendance. A talented musician, Althea started playing the piano at age five and continued her love for playing well into her adulthood. In 1983 she moved to Florida where she was able to continue her music career by playing for local churches. She greatly enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She will be remembered as a loving sister, an excellent cook, and someone who loved to travel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Chambers; sister, Ellen Thompson; and son, Eddie Kukuka.
Survivors include her sister, Joyce A. Bowser and husband, Ottis of Seneca, PA; brother, Kenneth Lavele McKee, Jr., and wife, June of Parker, PA; son, Dale Wiles; brother-in-law, Raymond Thompson of Gibsonia, PA; step-sons, Mark Chambers and wife, Tammy of Stuarts Draft and Russell Chambers and wife, Barbara of Frederick, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro, VA with Rev. Wray Sherman officiating. A private burial will be held in Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.
